In order to get feedback and improve our bully prevention program, we will be giving our annual online Olweus Bully Prevention Survey to our third and fourth grade students next week. To see a sample of the online questionnaire, go to http://www.obqsurvey.org and enter eSampleSurvey for the username and Olweus for the password. Kindergarten through second grade will be taking this survey put together by our Old Bonhomme committee. If you don't want your child to take the survey please let their classroom teacher know.

The name change reflects the evolution of our profession. In the early 1900s, we were vocational guidance counselors and we focused on guiding people towards career choices. Our jobs, and the systems we work in, have become more complex. Our knowledge base has become more complex as well. It is more fitting, and more in line with what we do, to be called school counselors. We no longer call teachers "school marms" because their jobs have evolved. Home Ec. has changed to FACS; Shop has changed to Industrial Tech; Librarian has changed to Library Media Specialist. All of these changes are because of the way the jobs have evolved. We are school counselors...we have evolved WAY beyond the guidance counselor of old.

This semester we are hosting a Strong Parent group at Old Bonhomme. We will share coffee and treats while using a program called The Strong Parent Project to facilitate our conversations, learn, and share parenting tips and strategies. Right now our group plans on meeting four times throughout the semester. On Saturday February 20, March 5, April 2, and April 16 from 8:30 to 9:30 A.M. in the OB Conference Room. You can commit to one or all of the sessions. If needed, child care will be provided. Click here to enroll in the program.
